Membership criteria
Xi Mu Upsilon Sorority, Incorporated
Official Membership Criteria
Prospective members of Xi Mu Upsilon Sorority, Incorporated must meet the following requirements:
- Age & Identity: Identify as a woman and be at least 21 years of age.
- Education: Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Character & Conduct: Demonstrate good moral character, integrity, maturity, professionalism, and personal accountability.
- Core Values: Support and embody the principles of Grace, Integrity, and Authenticity.
- Commitment to Service: Demonstrate a genuine commitment to community service, mentorship, scholarship, and the empowerment of women.
- Respect for the Organization: Respect the traditions, leadership structure, policies, procedures, standards, and confidentiality of Xi Mu Upsilon Sorority, Incorporated.
- Application & Interview: Complete the official membership application and successfully participate in the required interview process.
- Background Screening: Successfully complete the organization's required background check.
- Orientation & Development: Complete all required orientation, educational, and membership-development activities.
- Financial Responsibility: Remain current on all approved application fees, national dues, chapter dues, and other authorized financial obligations.
- Participation: Demonstrate consistent participation in meetings, programs, service initiatives, educational activities, and sisterhood experiences.
- Standards of Conduct: Refrain from hazing, bullying, discrimination, harassment, intimidation, retaliation, or any conduct that could harm another individual or negatively affect the reputation, safety, or integrity of the sorority.
- Conflicting Memberships: May not maintain active membership in another organization that conflicts with the governing policies, principles, or obligations of Xi Mu Upsilon Sorority, Incorporated. Any questions regarding potential conflicts must receive approval from the Lady Founder before membership is finalized.
- Final Approval: Receive final membership approval in accordance with the sorority's bylaws, policies, and established membership procedures.
Membership Consideration
Meeting the minimum membership criteria does not guarantee acceptance into Xi Mu Upsilon Sorority, Incorporated.
The sorority reserves the right to evaluate each applicant individually based on character, compatibility with the organization's values, demonstrated commitment, conduct, participation, and the current membership needs of the organization.
All membership decisions shall be made in accordance with the bylaws, governing policies, and established procedures of Xi Mu Upsilon Sorority, Incorporated.

The Path to Becoming an XMU Woman
Becoming a part of Xi Mu Upsilon is a journey of growth and discovery. Here are the steps to join our sisterhood:
- Connect with us: She begins by expressing interest — getting to know the sorority, our values, and what sisterhood truly means within Xi Mu Upsilon.
- Learn and engage: She attends an informational session or interest event where she meets sisters, asks questions, and discovers whether XMU aligns with her purpose, her faith, and her personal goals.
- Submit her intent: When she feels called to join, she completes the membership form — a simple step that shows she’s ready to walk in grace, integrity, and authenticity.
- Participate in the intake experience: She goes through a structured, supportive process designed to help her grow, learn, and understand the heart of Xi Mu Upsilon. This phase focuses on leadership, service, sisterhood, and personal development.
- Become a sister: Once she completes the process, she is welcomed into the circle — protected, uplifted, and embraced by women who are committed to her greatness.
