Our Past Initiatives and Community Involvement

Xi Mu Upsilon Sorority, Inc. is deeply committed to community engagement and awareness. We participated in the Blue Ribbon Wall for Foster Care Awareness month, honored those who suffer with PTSD during PTSD Awareness Month in June, stood in solidarity with bereaved parents in July, and supported Sarcoma Awareness Month. These initiatives reflect our dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of others.

Throughout August, September, and October, our sisters supported initiatives addressing education, food insecurity, domestic violence awareness, and breast cancer awareness. Each initiative represents our dedication to uplifting individuals and families while bringing greater awareness to issues that affect our communities.

August | Back to School — DonorChoose

We supported educational opportunities through DonorChoose, helping provide students with essential classroom resources. By investing in education, we help empower students, support educators, and create opportunities for a brighter future.

September | Hunger Action Month

Our focus turned to food insecurity and the importance of ensuring families have access to nourishment. Through food drives and hunger-relief initiatives, we recognize the importance of supporting individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

October | Awareness, Advocacy, and Support

October brings attention to two important causes: domestic violence awareness and breast cancer awareness. We stand in support of survivors, encourage education and prevention, promote early detection, and recognize the importance of compassion, advocacy, and access to resources.

Get Involved and Support Our Mission

There are many ways to participate in our events and support our campaigns. You can join or volunteer your time, or partner with us as a school, nonprofit, or business sponsor. We welcome collaborations that involve offering space, supplies, or expertise for workshops and drives. You can also support our campaigns by donating items like hygiene kits, school supplies, or food, or by contributing funds to expand our outreach and care packages. Share our mission on social media to raise awareness and become a sister or advocate. Membership and advocacy are open to women who share our values of service, grace, and heart. 💜 AUGUST | Back to School — DonorChoose

We are supporting education by helping provide classroom resources through DonorChoose. Every contribution toward a student's educational journey helps create opportunities for learning, growth, and success.

💚 SEPTEMBER | Hunger Action Month

We are bringing awareness to food insecurity and supporting efforts that help nourish individuals and families in need. We also look forward to community engagement opportunities, including our Community Baby Shower in Columbus, Georgia, which has been postponed. Updates regarding the rescheduled date will be shared when available.

💜 OCTOBER | Awareness, Advocacy & Sisterhood in Action

October is dedicated to raising awareness and showing support for important causes within our communities.

  • October 30 — Domestic Violence Awareness Candlelight Vigil: Join us in Columbus, Georgia, as we honor survivors, remember those affected by domestic violence, and stand together in support of safety, healing, and advocacy.

  • October 31 — First Founders Day Ball: Celebrate an evening of elegance, unity, sisterhood, and purpose as we honor our organization's legacy.

  • October 31 — Xi Mu Upsilon Breast Cancer Awareness Walk: Walk with us in support of breast cancer awareness, survivor advocacy, education, and the importance of early detection.
